The video clip on Cadiz has won the third place at this Festival, placing the work “Cádiz es singular, es plural” at the same level of state promotion carried out by other countries such as Portugal or Denmark –these countries have managed first and second place respectively in the category dedicated to tourist destinations. A total of 437 videos from 80 countries have entered competition in this category.
The award ceremony will be held on Thursday, 4th October and will be starting at 8 p.m. at the Granhotel Pupo of Karlovy Vary, a city a hundred kilometres away from Prague. This place is a famous tourist destination for its thermal waters, its architecture and for this International Festival of Films and Videos on Tourism. This year, the Festival celebrates its 40th anniversary, the oldest one worldwide.
The Tourfilm is divided into four categories: the first one is dedicated to audiovisual works about countries, regions or cities; the second category deals with commercial tourism videos; the third one is about documentary films; and the last category comprises multimedia works with tourism themes.
The video “Cádiz es singular, es plural” is part of a series of audiovisual works which include a documentary and a set of commercials whose promotion the Tourist Board has encouraged to draw further attention to the attractions of our province and thus increase the number of tourists visiting the area.
The company GM Comunicación, advised by the Tourist Board on the subject, was in charge of the audio-visual creativity process. This was released in the summer of 2004.
These videos have already been made available in fourteen languages: Spanish, English, French, German, Chinese, Russian, Italian, Finnish, Swedish, Dutch, Danish, Norwegian, Polish and Portuguese. The Tourist Board has also shown them in several conferences, fairs and receptions aimed at professionals in the tourist sector.
